Living With The SGS2

Ok so having had the HTC HD2 for 18 months i have been spoilt rotten for choice of OS and things to do with the phone, times are moving on and a new phone was due, not a hard choice to make really with the HTC EVO 3D still not having a release date in the UK it was between the HTC Sensation or the Samsung Galaxy SII.

Having spoke to a few people about the Sensation and it still having a locked bootloader it was simple it had to be the SGS2.

So there it was £35 a month 2K mins, 5K sms and truly unlimited data couldnt be beaten so thankyou very much.

So get home small box (smaller than the HD2) which surprised me, first glance wow gorgeous screen very light, not much in the box came with the usual paper work, some very nice ear bud headphones and a proper charger none of this plug a usb cable in the charger crap and a usb cable.

So phone on very fast boot, started having a play getting round touchwiz that lasted all of 30mins, go launcher ex thank you back to what i no. Camera holy hell excellent pictures video recording in 1080p very nice play back on the tv through a usb stick to.

Couple of days and im on a custom Rom, less crap ecen better battery life i have 3 friends with this phone now 2 on stock moan like hell about the battery.

Games look amazing bit of tweaking allows you to play some tegra 2 games thanks to chainfire. Watching movies looks and sounds fantastic also surround sound when headphones are plugged in, music player not the best so i bought an app.

After my first week of the phone i love it more than my hd2 which i never shut up about, its just so light, the screen is gorgeous, pictures, games and movies look awesome.

Although i do have a few niggles, swype sucks ass that went straight away, i had to pick up a case i feel the back is far to slippery for me, i got the imesh case which is worth it.
The camera app is samsungs own software and the settings dont save pain in the arse really.
I miss my notification light so much.
I actually think its to light there is no weight at all sometimes have to check its still in my pocket.
Samsung keyboard sucks.

These are problems that can be over come.

All in all this phone has knocked my socks off and im truly shocked what this power horse can do.

It's not that hard you n00bs

Ok so im sat here just flicking through thread on XDA Devs, and there really is some either really stupid, thick or just plain bone idol people out there.

OK you have a new toy because you have just got your self a HD2 because you heard of its capabilities, great for you well done you got yor hands on what is probably considered one of the best devices for geeks of the decade, now what do you do.

Well seen as it cost around £500 sim free when it was released and yes i no you can buy them for about £200 now thats still a nice wedge of cash to flush down the drain.

Ok so for us that no what we are doing and use xda for quite a while we have all seen the numerous posts "help have i bricked my phone" yes we see them everyday.

Come on people how hard is it to do a little research first before you attempt to mess with your new device that will become the best phone you have ever owned. Its not that hard to spend and hour or 2 reading before you delve into flashing. Seriously would you go buy a brand new car and take it apart when you dont no what you are doing? would you take apart your laptop if you wasnt confident in knowing how to put it back together.

Its really annoying for us long time users and people that have taken the time to read to find out what to do, its not that hard.

Its simple really,

back up your phone first,
make sure you saved what you need

download the android/wp7 build you want
read the INSTRUCTIONS how to flash its all there
you will need a compatible radio
so find a radio that is suited the thread will undoubtedly tell you.
flash it follow instructions

now you have an appropriate radio so your phone wont get stuck on the boot screen.

ok now you have a few options WP7 you need to flash through DAF as far as im aware i haven't used it since first release.

Android NAND using CWM or
Android SD

all you have to do is read the frigging instructions and everything will go smoothly, its not that hard so come on give us a break please.

Torrent Buddy For WP7

OK so I am now running WP7 on my HTC HD2 it was only fair to test out some of the apps, and I came across this little app that lets you check you're Torrent from your wp7 device.

"Torrent Buddy is a client application which run on windows phone and communicate with your uTorrent client/webserver running on your PC. This is pretty handy to look at the status of your torrents and control them as needed. What’s unique about Torrent Buddy compared to other apps on market place is that it lets you add new torrents from any website and RSS feeds. Not only that, it also allows you to add torrent from sites which require authentication by adding your own cookie information."
The Trial version will support everything except adding new torrents
you can get it from the market place.
I am nothing to do with this app It just taken me ages to get it set up so thought I would help in case anyone else needed it

OK so I thought I would write up a little tutorial on how to set this app up, as the only info i could find was on this site(the creates of the app)

OK so I found the easiest way of doing this guys was like this (my pc is connected via wifi)

1.give yourself a static ip=
start>control panel>network connections>right click you’re wireless connection>properties>

2.on the General Tab there is a box you can scroll down to, got to Internet protocol(TCP/IP)click on it and click properties

3.use the following IP Address example
IP. = 192.168.1.3
subnet = 255.255.255.0
Deafult gateway = (mine was) 192.168.1.1
DNS server (mine was) 192.168.1.1
click ok to save then ok

4. log in to you’re router(mine is Netgear so 192.168.1.1)
5.go to port forwarding
6.create new port forward
Service Name = Torrent Buddy
Service Type = TCP/UDP
Starting Port = chose a port
Ending Port = chose a port
Server IP Address (you’re static address)
save and log out you’re router

7.uTorrent setup – In uTorrent, go to options->Preferences->Web UI, Select “Enable Web UI” check mark. Enter a username and password and keep not of the connectivity port. This is what you will need to connect from torrent buddy (Select the check box and enter the port you chose for port forwarding).

Go to http://portforward.com/ and it will show you you’re IP.

fire up torrent buddy and open connections menu
9.Friendly name = whatever you want
Server name = http://yourIP:the port you chose
username = the same you chose for the settings in Utorrent
Password = as above
save
10.click the connection you created and press the tick box if you did everything ok then it should go back to the main screen and connect and then you can watch you’re torrents.

Hope this helps

HD2 now runs Android via NAND

Ok so it finally arrived a few weeks back but I've been to busy messing with my phones and flashing and other projects to actually write anything about it.

So what is it, Well NAND is the memory that we will be flashing Android to, instead of running from you're sd card or the RAM, both work ok but this time it will fully remove WinMo from you're device so you will basically have a Desire HD or Evo up-to you what you wanna class it as.

Ok so we start by heading to XDA forums you can click the title for this as I put a link there to get the guide on what to do.

So first of all we need to have HSPL on you're device if you havent then were have you been LOL. So we need MAGLDR you can get that from here. *HERE*

Download the Nand ROM you would like to use from ,*HERE* personally I use CMN [CyanogenMod_Nand]

NOTE1: If you dont have 1 or 2 on your phone then goto *THIS* thread for instructions on how to install HardSPL and update your Radio

NOTE2: You do NOT need to flash a Stock Rom before starting this, a Custom Rom will be fine as long as you have HardSPL 2.08 and a 576 RAM compatable Radio

NOTE3: If you are running Windows XP then you will not be able to right click and run the files as Administrator so just double click and run as normal

NOTE4: LEO512 and LEO1024 are both supported

NOTE5: MAGLDR doesn't replace OSPL/HSPL. It runs in the chain after. So it's safe to install and remove it

FLASH MAGLDR TO YOUR DEVICE

Ok so here we go, No pictures for this bit as I already have it, maybe I update it later and take screens for you, will see.
1. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable
NOTE: As an alternative method to activesync you can restart your phone in Bootloader Mode, then connect the usb cable and wait until 'usb' appears in the bottom half of your phones screen
2. Browse to the folder you extracted your Magldr Package files to on your pc, right click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and select Run as Administrator
3. Tick the box to confirm you are aware of the risks and select 'Next'
4. Tick the box to confirm you have followed the preperation steps and select 'Next'
* The program will now check the usb connection *
5. Select 'Update'
6. Verify the image you will flash (it should say 2.00.000.0) and Select 'Next'
7. Read the process list and Select 'Next'
8. Your phone will enter BootLoader Mode and the progress will goto 100%
9. Your phone will now Reboot. Congrats, you just flashed MAGLDR.

FLASH YOUR ANDROID ROM
NOTE1: This section is only applicable AFTER you have flashed MAGLDR to your Device
NOTE2: Make sure your phone is still connected via usb cable before starting

* When your phone Reboots it will Enter the MAGLDR Boot Menu Screen *
1. Press the 'Volume Down' button to goto Option 4: USB Flasher and press the 'Call' button (far left of the 5 hardware buttons at the bottom)
2. The menu will enter Android Flasher mode and install usb drivers if not present
3. Browse to the folder you extracted your NAND Android Package files to on your pc, right click on Run DAF.exe (or Install.exe if DAF.exe isnt present) and select Run as Administrator
4. Read ALL the text and then select 'Next'
5. Read the information and select 'Next'
6. The installer will now detect USB and then flash your Android Rom to NAND
* You can follow this progress on your Phones Screen *
7. When flashing is complete your phone will Reboot and proceed to boot Android from NAND

Original Xbox

Ok so at the moment in time im in no position to buy a new xbox 360 so had to get out the old xbox, made a few mods to it, Soft modded the console using a few various guides, then upgraded the hard drive to a 500gig HD, then joined this great site link in the title, $6 a month unlimited downloads of games home-brew apps & Games, cant go wrong, even got it set-up on-line last night and got my ass handed to me on a plate at Halo 2 oh the good old times eh lol

All good fun, going to try out some new mods soon, maybe put it inside a media centre case and some lights and some better cooling make it look a little sexier than a brick lol, also some wireless controllers seems a good idea, and in the middle of making the controller port for player 4 be able to cold boot the xbox to I don't have many friends so i don't need port 4 lmao
